Petroleum ether ACS is a clear colorless liquid with a characteristic odor, and it is composed of a mixture of aliphatic hydrocarbons with boiling points between 30°C and 200°C. It is produced through the refining of crude oil. Petroleum ether ACS is also known as benzine, petroleum naphtha, Ligroin, Mineral Spirits. It is a liquid hydrocarcbon that is mainly used as a nonpolar solvent. It is insoluble in water but soluble in ethanol. Petroleum ether is a mixture of low boiling aliphatic hydrocarbons (mainly hexane and pentane) that is generally used as a laboratory solvent. Petroleum ether ACS is widely used in many different industries.
