Eriochrome black T ACS is a dark violet powder with green metallic sheen. It is a hydroxyl-arylazo dye and is generally supplied as a monosodium salt. Its molecular formula is C20H12N3NaO7S. Eriochrome Black T is soluble in water and alcohol, but insoluble in common organic solvents. It functions as an acid-base indicator.
