Ammonium carbonate Food grade is a colorless crystalline solid or a white powder with a strong odor of ammonia. It consists of water soluble cubic crystals. The chemical formula of Ammonium carbonate is (NH4)2CO3. It is also known as hartshorn or baker’s ammonia. It can be synthesized by means of reacting carbon dioxide with ammonia.
