It is also known by the names TEA and N,N-Diethylethanamine. This compound is classified as a tertiary aliphatic amine, derived from ammonia through the substitution of each hydrogen atom with an ethyl group. The synthesis of triethylamine occurs via the alkylation of ammonia using ethanol. It finds utility in a range of chemical applications.
