Ninhydrin ACS is an organic compound that appears white to brownish-white in color. Its chemical structure is represented by the formula C6H4(CO)2C(OH)2. This compound is primarily utilized for the detection of ammonia and amines. Upon reacting with these amines, Ninhydrin transforms into deep blue or purple derivatives known as Ruhemann's purple. Additionally, Ninhydrin is referred to by other names, including 1,2,3-Indantrione monohydrate, 2,2-Dihydroxy-1,3-indanedione, and Trioxohydrindene monohydrate. The ACS Grade Ninhydrin is characterized by its high purity, making it suitable for a wide range of chemical and research applications.
ChemieR provides an extensive selection of high-purity salts, acids, base and high purity solvents, including alkali metals, alkaline earth compounds, perchlorates, heavy metals, rare earths, transition metals, silver and precious metals, and triflates.
