Benzyl alcohol ACS is a monoaromatic primary alcohol. It is colorless liquid with mild pleasant aromatic odor. Its chemical formula is C6H5CH2OH. It is entirely miscible with alcohol and diethyl ether but partially soluble in water. Commercial method for its synthesis is by the alkaline hydrolysis of benzyl chloride.
